Elkhart launches Small Business Resource Toolkit

Entrepreneurs in the City of Elkhart now have a powerful new resource to help them start and grow their businesses.

On February 25, community leaders, entrepreneurs, and economic development partners gathered at the Lerner Theatre in downtown Elkhart for the launch of the Elkhart Small Business Resource Toolkit, a new initiative designed to make it easier for business owners to navigate the many resources available to them.

CDFI Friendly was proud to participate in the kickoff event, serving on a panel of experts who shared insights on the types of financial and technical support available to entrepreneurs across the region.

The toolkit was created to help entrepreneurs more easily find the organizations, programs, and services that support small business growth. For many business owners—especially those starting their first venture—simply knowing where to begin can be one of the biggest challenges. The new resource aims to remove that barrier by bringing a wide range of support services into one place.

During the event, panelists discussed key topics including access to capital, business advising, and the importance of strong local partnerships that help entrepreneurs move from ideas to sustainable businesses.

CDFI Friendly’s role focused on highlighting the importance of accessible financing and alternative capital options. Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs) play a key role in supporting entrepreneurs who may not qualify for traditional bank financing but still have strong business ideas and the determination to succeed.

The Elkhart Small Business Resource Toolkit connects entrepreneurs with resources including:

  • Business advising and mentorship

  • Entrepreneur training programs

  • Access to capital and community lending programs

  • Local economic development organizations

  • Technical assistance providers

Launching the toolkit at the historic Lerner Theatre provided a fitting backdrop for a collaborative effort focused on strengthening the city’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.

CDFI Friendly looks forward to continuing to partner with organizations across the region to ensure that entrepreneurs have the tools, capital, and support they need to build successful businesses. We are expanded our Capital Coaching program and providing a special focus for businesses in the City of Elkhart. If you are business seeking capital, use this form to connect with our team.
