Sherman Avenue Duplexes Ribbon Cutting

Despite the chilly weather, spirits were high as community members, partners, and supporters gathered for a ribbon cutting that marked more than just the opening of a new duplex—it marked momentum.

This newly completed duplex, part of the Inner City Development initiative, stands as a powerful symbol of what’s possible when community-minded development, creative financing, and strong partnerships come together. We were proud to celebrate with local leaders and neighbors, knowing that this is just the beginning. More homes—and more hope—are on the way.

The project is the result of a collaborative effort among dedicated partners including Cinnaire, who brought critical CDFI investment to this block, and the City of South Bend, whose support helped bring the vision to life. Also instrumental were Notre Dame Federal Credit Union, local foundations and donors, and the committed developers we’ve supported from the ground up. Together, we’ve launched a capital fund that helps make these uniquely financed projects possible.

As featured on the front page of the South Bend Tribune, this development is part of a larger movement to transform vacant lots into vibrant, livable homes—uplifting families and neighborhoods throughout our region.

We’re proud to be trailblazing alongside our partners and look forward to continuing this important work.

Because when we invest in people and places, we all grow stronger—together.
