Learning, Networking, and a First Look at Woodland Crossing

CDFI Friendly was proud to host Calling All Food Focused Entrepreneurs (and Friends) yesterday in Elkhart, bringing together small business owners, partners, and community supporters for an afternoon centered on growth, opportunity, and connection.

The event began with 2:00 PM tours of Woodland Crossing, giving attendees an early look at the exciting new development and available spaces. Participants walked through the property, explored future possibilities, and discussed how projects like Woodland Crossing can create new opportunities for local entrepreneurs.

At 4:00 PM, approximately 20 attendees joined our workshop, where participants learned more about the unique financing needs of food-based businesses and the resources available to help them start, grow, and scale. Conversations focused on access to capital, planning, and how community partnerships can support local business success.

The evening concluded with a reception featuring outstanding networking, incredible food, and exceptional service from Brass Elk Brewing. Entrepreneurs, lenders, and community leaders had the chance to build relationships and share ideas in a welcoming atmosphere.

We are grateful to our partners, attendees, and sponsors who helped make the event a success. Supporting food entrepreneurs means supporting jobs, culture, and vibrant local neighborhoods—and we are excited for what comes next.

Special thank you to Key Bank for their sponsorship of the event, to the City of Elkhart staff who made the spaces available, and to Allies for Community Business for making the trip to meet with entrepreneurs in the region.

Stay connected for future workshops and opportunities from CDFI Friendly South Bend.
